Willet windows

Willet windows

I wasnt going to post any of these windows, as i dislike them, but then i thought I would show a few pictures as a counterpoint to the strength I find in Connicks glass throughout the rest of the Cathedral. These willet windows, I believe, are an attempt to reconcile Cubism with Gothic vocabularies. While the glass is ambitious, it actually is too rich, noisy and very disorganized to my eyes. There is no natural progression, text reads from one window to the next across the tracery, and there is no hierarchy or quiet place for the eye to rest. Bold, but unsuccessful in my opinion.
